About Me

Agricultural equipment and supplies are not cheap. If you are interested in investing in new tractors, pows and other farm machinery, you will want to make sure that you buy quality equipment at the best possible price. Rainwater tanks offer you something that is extremely valuable when it comes to your water harvesting needs. These tanks ensure that they collect water that might be otherwise lost to the surroundings. You get to have a system that harvests large volumes of water to cater to your various home needs.

However, you need to consider a few things when determining the right size you want for your tank. Depending on your estimate of how much water would be enough to run your home, the different sizes, shapes, and models of rainwater tanks are what will ultimately guide your choice. Here is what will eventually determine what you settle for when it comes to rainwater tanks.

How Much Water Do You Need?

There are many ways that you can use the water you harvest from the rain in your home. The first step towards determining the amount you will need is to have a rough estimate of various water usage sections. After you identify these areas, you should account for how many litres will go into one cycle of usage on a normal day.

This will help you determine how much your weekly use is. A sum of all the different sections will provide you with a guideline of the water that goes into your home in a week. This way, you are in a much better position to determine the capacity of rainwater tanks under your consideration.

Size of Space Available

This aspect will help you make the right choice in the different rainwater tanks at your disposal. Other rainwater tanks have different sizes and capacities. Ultimately, your choice will depend on how much space is available for installation.

If space is not an issue for you, the installation expert should give you reliable recommendations about the best position to place the tank. However, if you don't have that much space to work with, you would need to settle for a lower capacity tank.

The Average Amount of Rainfall You Expect

As a rule of thumb, identifying the average rainfall of your area will point you in the right direction when it comes to rainwater tanks. You can easily access data on your region's annual average rainfall from the various weather services you will find on the internet.

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology is one such source where you can find reliable rainfall information on both a monthly and annual basis. This will help identify the tank's right size that will accumulate enough water in the rainy seasons that you will eventually use during the drier months.
